Miss Connecticut Bridget Oei wowed the audience and judges with an Irish dance routine

Miss Connecticut Bridget Oei was named runner-up in this year’s Miss America competition showcasing her impressive Irish dancing skills during the talent portion of the show.

A member of The Griffith Academy school of Irish dance in Connecticut, Oei is a top-ranked Irish dancer. At the 2018 Miss America competition hosted in Atlantic City, Oei wowed the crowd with an exciting Irish dance routine. She reportedly wore a new costume by renowned Irish dance designer Gavin Doherty for her routine.

As if her Irish dance career wasn’t impressive enough, Oei recently graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Connecticut where she studied environmental chemistry. She is a strong advocate for women in STEM roles and hopes to attend medical school in the future.

HollywoodLife reports that the Miss America event went through major changes this year, including a scoring readjustment. Each contestant’s talent portion now accounts for fifty percent of the overall scoring, so it’s no wonder that Oei finished so high!
