The date is set for the 2014 Irish Post Awards gala, and actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers will take the stage upon accepting the 2014 Legend Award.

The Irish Post is the biggest selling national newspaper to the Irish in Britain, widely loved and respected by the Irish community. It has timely coverage of news, sports, business—everything.

The Business Gala Dinner was a huge success last year – a sell-out event at London’s Dorchester Hotel. Riverdance legend Michael Flatley was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award, and there were many other important honorees and speakers to make the night memorable.

“The Irish Post awards are a significant event held in London. They celebrate the Irish heritage and acknowledge exceptional personal achievement,” Irish Post publisher Elgin Loane told IrishCentral.

Award winning Northern Irish broadcaster and journalist Eamonn Holmes will be returning as Master of Ceremonies, and this year actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers will be receiving the 2014 Legend Award.

“Jonathan has worked very hard from an early age in life and the story of his own career development is fascinating,” Loane said.

Meyers was born Jonathan O’Keeffe in Drimnagh, Co. Dublin and was raised in Co. Cork. He is notable for a wide array of films like 'Vanity Fair' and 'Bend it like Beckham,' and television series like 'The Tudors' and 'Dracula.'

“We are delighted to be able to recognize and honor his remarkable accomplishments.”

The black-tie event will take place on Thursday, October 23 at the Hilton in Park Lane, London.
