A little known Canadian actress, Holly Deveaux, is set to star as Casey Anthony in a movie which will portray the murder trial and shocking acquittal of the hated mother who was accused of murdering her two-year-old daughter, Caylee.
The movie, “Prosecuting Casey Anthony,” is based on the book, “Imperfect Justice,” written by the case’s prosecuting lawyer, Jeff Ashley.
“West Wing” star Rob Lowe will play the role of Jeff Ashley in the movie, while “The Office” actor, Oscar Nunez will have the difficult job of portraying Anthony’s defence lawyer, Jose Baez.
Holly (19) beat Kristen Stewart, Alyssa Milano, and Jennifer Love Hewitt, to the role.
The young actress, who bears an uncanny resemblance to Anthony, has previously starred in the Canadian series, “Baxter.”
Holly’s role will be relatively limited in the movie, as producers plan to heavily rely on news footage. The movie, which will be a form of documentary, began filming this Wednesday.
Alison Cross, the writer of “Prosecuting Casey Anthony” told the Orlando Sentinel, “It’s not our intention to make a movie that tries Casey for the third time. She was tried in court and she was tried by public opinion.”
The verdict of Casey Anthony’s murder trial is one of the most controversial since the OJ Simpson case.
Anthony has been hiding out in Florida since she was released from prison last July, after a jury found her not guilty of killing her daughter, Caylee, in 2008.
