"American Idol" judges told the Irish American girl from Cape Cod, Siobhan Magnus, that her version of Elvis’ famous song, "Suspicious Minds," was only so-so.

Randy Jackson said “Ya, you took some risks, I kinda liked the whole change up but when you broke into the slower part it really came alive for me.. that girl can sing right there.”

Ellen DeGeneres, the TV host and nice girl on the panel, said she also preferred the second half. “You really have a beautiful voice,” she said.

The tougher female judge, Kara DioGuardi, wasn’t as impressed. “It’s getting confusing for me.. I wasn’t crazy for it.. I love the second voice.. the one that screams but not crazy about the first part,” she said.

Simon Cowell agreed with DeGuardi, “The first part was terrible and even when you hit the big notes you didn’t hit them right ... you were very erratic, very screechy,” he said. “This was not one of your best performances.”

Magnus fought back at the judges' comments, “I'm not just one kind of singer. I can’t even label myself then whey is it necessary to label me at all.”

Magnus donned a very futuristic white dress and grouchy Cowell had to comment on it. “You looked like you stepped into a time machine and came back in 20 years time.”

Magnus is a true Elvis fan and says her parents turned her on to Elvis.

Adam Lambert, last year's runner-up, was this week’s mentor and he advised Magnus to give the song “more movement and more fire.”

“She is really talented and someone that wants to be differnt and likes to be different,” he said. Magnus has been compared to Lambert on several occasions.
