Robert Pattinson was spotted on Friday filming scenes in L.A. for his new film “Water for Elephants,” based on the best-selling novel by Sara Gruen.

He and co-star Reese Witherspoon were all dressed up for the movie, which is set in the Depression era. Pattinson plays the lead role of Jacob Jankowsk, who drops out of college to run away with the circus.

The movie is directed by Francis Lawrence and is set to be released in 2011.
