Five New Hampshire teens are facing criminal charges, having victimized a fellow student to the point where she admitted herself into to a mental health facility.
This comes less than five months after Phoebe Prince committed suicide following a vicious campaign of bullying.
Police in Salem, New Hampshire are filing criminal charges against the five teens who verbally abused a 16-year-old girl. The girl was teased about her appearance and sexual orientation.
The barrage of bullying was so vicious that the girl admitted herself into hospital last month. This abuse had been ongoing since the girl was in middle school.
On April 6, the girl had reached her wits end. She sent a message to her mother which said she was “being picked on and couldn't take it anymore.” Her mother feared that she would harm herself.
The victim admitted herself into the mental health facility for five days after the taunting had reached the tipping point.
The five students are suspended from school and have been charged. Richard Lovette, 17, is charged with criminal harassment. The other four, who are minors, are identified as two 16-year-old boys, a 16-year-old girl and a 15-year-old girl.
The victim of the bullying is now out of hospital and back in school.
