A new service expansion by Time Warner Cable allows unlimited calling to Ireland, and the 27 other countries in the E.U.
Time Warner, one of the largest providers of video, high-speed data, and voice services in the U.S. with 15 million customers, announced in September they would add the 28 E.U. countries to their Unlimited Calling plan, plus Norway.
The basic plan, Time Warner Cable Unlimited, already encompassed unlimited calling to Canada, Mexico, China, India, Hong Kong, Puerto Rico, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. With 34 countries now covered by Time Warner, 3.6 billion people can be called for the same base monthly rate – half the world’s population.
“Many of our customers have friends and loved ones overseas,” said Jeff Lindsay, Time Warner’s general manager for phone services. “We’ve seen incredible response to the addition of Mexico, Hong Kong, China and India into our Unlimited calling plan, and we’re certain that the expansion to Europe will be similarly well received. It gives us great joy to bring families and friends together and to play a part in making the world a little smaller.”
The plan allows customers to make unlimited calls to both mobile and landline phones.
Correspondent with the plan expansion was the announcement of Phone2Go, an app that gives Time Warner customers the ability to receive incoming calls to their land line on their mobile phone, and to similarly make calls from their Time Warner number from their cell phone, in addition to any other device with app capabilities.
In addition to the 34 countries now covered by Time Warner’s unlimited calling plan, another 50-plus countries are accessible for one cent per minute through the aptly-branded Global Penny Phone Plan.
