Ireland’s U-21 team’s hope of signing Derby striker Conor Doyle have met a setback as he has confirmed he will travel to Florida to train with the U.S. U-20 side.

Noel King, Head Coach of the Republic of Ireland Men's Under 21 team,  has been tracking the 19-year-old, Conor Doyle, who was born in Texas, but is eligible for Ireland through his Dublin-born father.

Although Doyle has not closed the door on his Irish football career he has said that he is keeping his options open.

Doyle said “I can play for the USA or Ireland, so a definite decision hasn't been made yet, but I am honored to be called up…I can't wait to get out there, it's a real privilege and it will be a great experience.

"It is a pretty special feeling to get the letter that you've been called up and it has capped off a very good six months for me.

"I didn't think this year could be any better, but this is pretty special."

As part of the training setup in Florida the U.S. U-20 team will play two friendly matches against Canada.
