Poor Rory McIlroy can't catch a break from the spotlight. The 22-year-old golf ace is finding life after his epic US Open victory a little more photographed.

That's why his rumored romance with the Danish world number one tennis player Caroline Wozniacki has become such a spectacle.

When Wozniacki tweeted the following after her recent match on July 2, speculation erupted: 'Fantastic fight! Also met Rory McIlory, who was sitting just behind me. Really down to earth great guy.'

She is clearly his type - tall, blonde, spirited, she lives in Monaco, a glamorous world apart from the gee fields of Holywood, County Down. Both are nearing the top of their game on the international circuit, and both know the pressures, which make them a match of sorts.

Asked recently about what kind or person she'd like to date, Caroline dropped some major clues that McIlroy may just want to listen to: 'Somebody with honesty. Understanding what I’m doing. Maybe a sports person himself.'

That should be music to his ears. Here's hoping they can find time in their punishing schedules for romance as well as rounds of golf and tennis.

Wozniacki may be a challenge but she's one of the kind McIlroy would be lucky to meet.
