Located just outside Ballyconnell in Cavan the establishment was opened in 1992 under the ownership of former billionaire and businessman Sean Quinn.
In 2011 the Irish Bank Resolution Corporation took control after Mr Quinn went bankrupt but 13 years later the hotel now has a new owner.
Tony Brady who is originally from Cavan but emigrated to Australia in 1973 has bought the business for €30million.
After making the move down under Tony worked as a bricklayer and made his way into contracting before opening his building Brady Group which dealt with developing apartments and hotels.
The Slieve Russell boasts 224 bedrooms, a spa and a leisure center. It sits on 300 acres which has incorporated an 18-hold golf course as well as a nine-hole academy course.

Speaking to the Anglo Celt, Tony said: "It (the growth of Brady Group in Australia) was a gradual process, it didn't snowball as such. I was lucky to have a lot of good people working for me... We're not new to hotels, we have a lot of experience running hotels at this stage."
The Slieve Russell has been performing well over the last few years with records showing that they made a pre-tax profit of around €5 million in 2022.

With five hotels in Melbourne, Tony added: "The challenge in the hotel game is you have to provide excellent service every day, all year round and keep the guest happy.
"It is ongoing, the upkeep, maintaining standards of cleanliness and presentation and so on. The Slieve Russell has been very well run, it is marvelously kept and the staff are the best I have encountered."
