The U.S. Economic Envoy to Northern Ireland, Declan Kelly, has invited U.S. corporations to consider participation in the Northern Ireland employee mentorship program launched last month with the American Ireland Fund and the Northern Ireland Science Park CONNECT program in Belfast.
The mentorship program is designed to give young professionals and recent college graduates from Northern Ireland the opportunity to spend one year working in the U.S.
Robert McCann, CEO of UBS Wealth Management Americas and a member of the U.S. Working Group supporting the Envoy’s economic mission in Northern Ireland, has agreed to chair a committee which will work to find corporate participants.
U.S. companies interested in participating in the program should go to the Office of the U.S. Economic Envoy’s recently launched website economicenvoy.com where additional information will be posted in the coming weeks. The website also includes the latest news and events around the U.S. economic mission to Northern Ireland.
Kelly said "the mentorship program provides an excellent way to help Northern Ireland professionals gain valuable work experience that they can bring back to Northern Ireland and use to help build the economy of the future. At the same time, U.S. corporations benefit from the talented graduates produced by Northern Ireland universities each year.
“Economicenvoy.com will provide information for companies about the program and will also provide an overview of the latest news and events happening in support of our strategic investment and economic development mission to Northern Ireland,” concluded Kelly.
