Would you visit a whiskey distillery funded by the U2 frontman?
With Conor McGregor finally launching his new Irish whiskey “Proper Twelve,” another Irish celebrity is rumored to be starting on the whiskey train and plans to invest in a new distillery project in Co Kildare.
U2 frontman Bono is thought to be investing some $50 million in Ballykelly Mill near Monasterevin as part of a development that would include an artisan distillery, reception areas, tasting rooms and exhibition spaces in the seven-story-tall 1700s era building.

Developer Paddy McKillen is the main driving force behind the proposal while Bono is supplying additional funding.
McKillen told the Sunday Times that he hoped the distillery development would “revive Monasterevin’s rich heritage in producing the finest whiskey going right back to the 18th century.”

“We’re investing €50m into this initial phase, which is the start of a long-term strategy. It fits very well with our existing hospitality businesses and the great global interest in Irish whiskey,” he added.
Plans were submitted for approval with the Kildare County Council last week.
