A few Irish dancing lessons are like a rite of passage for Irish people at home and abroad.
There’s a reason why the vast majority of us give up our dreams of "Riverdance" stardom, however. That reason is that Irish step dancing is an extremely difficult skill, one that we’re all not quite talented enough to achieve.
The Try Guys from Buzzfeed learned just how difficult Irish step dancing can be as they donned their hard shoes to learn a routine to perform in front of their co-workers.
“As someone who dances, I didn’t realize that Irish step dancing is really, really, really hard,” they say, after being amazed that the first step they struggled to learn was a basic step taught to four- and five-year-olds the world over.
“It challenges your body in places, in muscles, I didn’t know could be challenged by tapping around,” they continue.
The Guys learn all the basics, from imagining your arms being superglued to your sides to learning that most steps are completed in rounds of four and finish up with a good attempt once they finally showcased their efforts.
