While GAA teams in Ireland are dealing with the Irish summer bucketing rain upon matches throughout the GAA Championship, these teams are knocking a ball back and forth over sandy, golden beaches.
A group of hurlers from Kinsale, Co. Cork, were captured taking a break from working on the tan to hone their skills on a San Diego beach, a training ground a hundred times better than any Irish GAA pitch.
The group were filmed by Jerome Quinn, who traveled to the US West Coast to visit the West Coast 7s, and created this envy-inspiring video of Irish and Americans alike enjoying a match in the Californian sun.
Now in its third year and attracting 21 teams, the West Coast 7s sees teams flock from cities such as Atlanta, Austin and San Diego, to play the sports they love, even if they’ve absolutely no connection to Ireland.
The true family and community power of the GAA in all its glory just 15 miles north of the Mexican border.
