Dubliners rejoice! The Dublin accent has been voted the sexiest of all across Ireland and the UK.
More than half of the people polled in a recent survey believe that the Irish capital city's accent is something special.
Ahead of the premiere of "Love Is Blind: UK" on Netflix, the streaming giant commissioned a survey to find out what the "sexiest" accents are in Ireland and the UK.
2,000 people shared their opinions for the survey that was conducted by Perspectus Global in July.
A whopping 58% of the 2,000 single people surveyed thought that Dublin has the sexiest accent!
Next came the London Cockney accent (45%), followed by the Welsh (38%), Edinburgh in Scotland (37%), and Liverpool at 34%.
On the other end of the spectrum, the Birmingham accent (known as the Brummie accent) is one of seven accents those surveyed find least attractive. It's joined by Essex (55%), Geordie (49%), and Glaswegian (47%).
Of the folks interviewed, 59% said they've fancied someone in the past purely because of their accent. Meanwhile, 81% admit they would put up with an annoying accent if the person was attractive.
We must admit, we're not that surprised. Back in March 2024, Alt Index released the results of their survey which found that worldwide the Irish accent was voted the most attractive followed by Scotland and Italian.
Their results showed 19% found the Irish accent most attractive with Scots getting 17% of the votes, Italian 15%, French 11%, and Spanish 10%.
In the same survey, the Irish came out top of the pops on the international list with 31% voting us the most attractive closely followed by the Scots (17%), Italian (15%), French (11%), Spanish (10%) and Geordie (10%).
Even back in 2021, One Poll discovered almost the exact same results. Their theory was that Irish stars like Barry Keoghan of "Saltburn" and Colin Farrell of "The Banshees of Inisherin" put a spell on the international public.
Of course, we know the truth. It's our incredible banter and wonderful charm!
