Gardaí in Killarney, Co Kerry are going viral after sending a hilarious letter to Caroline, an American woman who apparently lost her license while visiting.
"Caroline and Rachel recently took a besties trip to Ireland, and well the rest is as the story goes," An Garda Síochána said in posts on their official Facebook and Instagram pages yesterday, January 28.
"We’re proud that our way of community based policing continues to bridge the Atlantic.
"It really is the small things, isn’t it?"
The posts feature a photo of the letter signed by Garda Joseph O'Sullivan that was sent to Caroline in the US.
"Dear Caroline," the letter says, "Please find enclosed your driving license. This was handed into Killarney Garda station in Co. Kerry and I am now returning it to you.
"I hope you had a wild and enjoyable time here in Ireland.
"Please feel free to visit us again any time and next time don't drink so much Guinness and lose your driving license. It is a very important document."
The good-natured letter has drawn more than 20k likes on social media.

In a follow-up note, Gardaí added: “As with all our posts, we've shared with permission.
"Rachel had shared a public video of the yarn along with some wonderful snaps from their trip [and pints] over on TikTok.
"Our professional email addresses are in the public domain - we do not accept fan mail."
Indeed, Caroline's sister Rachel posted on TikTok back in December after they received the humorous letter from Gardaí in Killarney.
"10/10 police work, you were spot on," Rachel wrote on her TikTok over clips of Caroline drinking some lovely pints of Guinness.
Rachel shared a number of TikToks in September of her and her family's journeys around Ireland, which included stops in Dublin, Galway, and, of course, Co Kerry and, yes, plenty of pints of Guinness.

In yet another follow-up on Tuesday, Gardaí added: "*Please always drink alcohol responsibly, won’t you.
"This is important: we do not tolerate any references to 'splitting the G.'"
