A lighthouse keeper in Kinsale has shared the surprise moment a furry friend came to visit.
Alan & Catherine Boyers of Old Head Lighthouse frequently share their adventures and anecdotes online, with their recent tale seeing them joined by an unexpected guest on the top catwalk.
Sharing a video to social media, the pair told of how a fox had managed to climb onto the platform throughout the night, with the sweet creature seeking safety from the stormy weather.
"Have had a lot of experiences around the old head lighthouse, big storms, lightning striking the tower but this has to be a first," the sweet post began.
"The door to the tower opens at times with strong winds and this little one found their way above right to the top catwalk of the lighthouse.
"Foxes are agile climbers and are known to climb high walls etc but climbing a lighthouse tower, never heard of it before, It had some amazing views from above," they joked.
"Lucky not much trouble in getting it back to safer grounds, But thank you Mr fox for the lovely memories you have left us all with, back to your den now! Always a story here," the post concluded.
