Season two may just be finishing but we already can't wait for Derry Girls season three!
We've had encounters with Protestants and classic Irish wedding drama but all the second season of Derry Girls has done is make us want even more of Erin, Michelle, Clare, Orla and James on our TV screens. Are we to have a Derry Girls season three?
The second season of the hit show is just ending in Ireland so it may be another little while until fans in the rest of the world can stream the latest episodes on Netflix but we're already thinking about what will come next.
Just as the second season was ending, Channel 4 confirmed that yes, THERE WILL BE A THIRD SEASON!
That might be the end for series 2 of #DerryGirls, but don’t worry it will be returning for series 3! @LisaMMcGee @SaoirseJackson @nicolacoughlan @louisa_harland @JamieLeeOD @Djllewellyn pic.twitter.com/yhyOaCIIQh

To be fair, we couldn't see any reason why they shouldn't be back on our TV screens with more hilarious shenanigans in the very near future.

When will Derry Girls Season Three be released?
As the third series of Derry Girls has just been confirmed, it's hard for us to say for certain, but when the first season aired in January 2018, it was renewed shortly afterward and the second season aired just a little over a year afterward in March 2019.
That could mean we will have a third season of Derry Girls by March 2020.
What will happen in Derry Girls season three?
Again, without any trailer, it's hard for us to even hazard a guess and has many of you will not yet have had the chance to stream the second season yet, we won't spoil the surprise by telling you what they have done already in the second batch of episodes.
Who is in the cast for Derry Girls season three?
We'd obviously be devastated if we didn't see the return of all four of the main Derry Girls; Saoirse-Monica Jackson as Erin, Nicola Coughlan as Clare, Jamie-Lee O’Donnell as Michelle, and Louisa Harland as Orla. We'd even stretch so far as to say we'd be unhappy if we lost Dylan Llewellyn as James, the wee English fella.
We've already seen the return of some favorites such as Tara Lynne O'Neill as Ma Mary, Kathy Kiera Clarke as Aunt Sarah and Siobhan McSweeney as Sister Michael, as well as some great new faces such as Father Ted's Ardal O'Hanlon in season two.
Here's hoping for some more great guest appearances in season three.

When will Derry Girls Season Two be on Netflix?
It was almost a full year before Derry Girls season one appeared on Netflix. Hopefully, we won't be waiting as long for the Netflix season two release date.

Will there be a Derry Girls movie?
There is a possibility of a Derry Girls movie according to star Tommy Tiernan.
Tiernan, who plays the dad Gerry on "Derry Girls," was talking about the show’s massive success with Ian Dempsey on TodayFM in Ireland.
Tiernan said: "We finished filming the second series last Friday so that'll go out in March.
"We're doing season three and then a film maybe."
Tiernan did add: "That's all up to Lisa (McGee). That's her going away and sitting in a shed in London and just coming up with all the stories.”
McGee, a Derry native herself, created and wrote the smash television hit.
