Irish band Picture This have been performing for less than a year and already they’re setting records and scooping up fans.
Jimmy Rainsford (22) and Ryan Hennessy (21), both from the town of Athy in Co. Kildare, joined forces at the end of October 2015, after Jimmy spotted Ryan performing in local pubs and venues.
Upon hearing Ryan’s unique voice, Jimmy invited Ryan to join him in his studio to record some tracks. The duo hit it off and Picture This was born.
They managed to gather such a loyal and enthusiastic fan base before their debut gig at The Academy in Dublin that the show sold out five weeks in advance, making them the first bad to ever sell out The Academy.
“It's been so crazy the last 9 months. We haven't even been a band a year yet and it's crazy!” Ryan and Jimmy told IrishCentral. “The support we have gotten is amazing and we are so grateful for it all. We're loving it at the moment and we enjoy it so much.”
“Take My Hand” is the follow up to the band’s first release “You and I” which was well received at Irish radio and also received airplay air across UK and USA airwaves.
With their heartfelt lyrics and supremely chill sound, Picture This draws inspiration from John Cooper Clarke, Oasis, The Stone Roses and The 1975 as well as other original Irish artists.
Setting up the band’s Facebook as a way to promote their music quickly saw Picture This’ fanbase rise from 100 friends and family to over 14,500 in a short space of time. They have revived over 2.5 million views on Facebook and over two hundred and fifty thousand views on YouTube.
Their Traffic Jam videos, where they perform while stuck in traffic, have become a viral sensation and have seen the likes of Gavin James, The Coronas, Ryan Sheridan, Hometown and Aslan’s Christy Dignam all take part with requests from many more artists to join in.
They’ve also now signed with International book agents CAA under the guidance of Jon Ollier, the man responsible for bringing Ed Sheeran from the streets of London to stadiums all over the world.
Due to the phenomenal demand of the fans who were unable to get their hands on tickets for their two previously announced sold out shows, Picture This will be playing a third and final headline date in Dublin’s Olympia Theatre on November 3.
And you’ll also be able to catch them at live in New York on August 19th at IrishCentral’s summer BBQ, which we’ll be live streaming from our Facebook page.
It’ll be their first time in the US, and they told IrishCentral how much they’re looking forward to exploring New York. “There's a magic about the US music world that we love,” they said.
