“Hell On Wheels”, AMC’s new Western drama. starring Irish actor Colm Meaney, landed the network’s second biggest premiere audience ever this weekend.
With 4.4 million viewers on Sunday night the post-Civil War drama secured 2.4 million viewers in the sought after adult demographic — that’s good news for the producers since Westerns usually appeal to an older crowd.
Although Wheels On Fire had a big lead in from The Walking Dead (6.3 million) it was no slouch at the weekend and in fact this is the first time AMC has been able to use its highest rated show to fuel another series.
Meanwhile The Walking Dead has had a ratings boost too — the zombie drama has found more viewers for the first time in its second season.
