Bill Murray has been in Co Donegal in recent days, playing a few holes at Cruit Island Golf Club and schmoozing with the staff at Caisleáin Óir Hotel.

Murray was "getting in a bit of practice" with Billy Getty and Frank Casey Jr on the links in Co Donegal before heading to Dunhill Links in Scotland this coming week, Cruit Island Golf Club said on social media on Sunday, September 29.

The golf club said its own Sean Hyland was "on the bag" with Murray's golfing group.

Murray posed for photos with some of the Cruit Island staff, as well as a group of ladies from Strabane Golf Club, during his Irish golf outing.

Murray continued his charm offense at Caisleáin Óir Hotel later that day.

“What a gentleman,” the Co Donegal hotel said in a social media post on Sunday.

“We had the privilege of having Bill Murray in for dinner and he popped in to thank & meet our entire kitchen crew. 

“Thank you Bill."

Brid Sweeney, an employee at Caisleáin Óir Hotel, shared more photos of Murray's visit to Caisleáin Óir, noting that the "Ghostbusters" star even "belted out" a song.

Murray, 74, is no stranger to Ireland or its famous golf courses. In 2021, the "Caddyshack" star was in Ireland filming "The Links Life" with golfing author Tom Coyne.

During that visit, Murray threw his support to a local raffle in Co Sligo for a signed Mayo jersey ahead of that year's All-Ireland Senior Football Championship.

The following summer, Murray was back in Ireland and attended the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship quarter-final clash between Cork and Galway at Semple Stadium in Co Tipperary with Irish businessman JP McManus.

Murray brought his own dose of craic to Ireland during that visit when he treated unsuspecting punters to a rendition of "The Star of the County Down" at Charlie Malone's Bar in Limerick City. 

Murray wasn't done with his viral Irish moments just yet - he was later spotted wearing a Limerick jersey during the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship semi-final between Galway and Limerick at Dublin's Croke Park. 

Murray went on to take part in McManus's Pro-Am Tournament that July, where he was teamed up with Irish stars Niall Horan and Jamie Dornan and English pro golfer Luke Donald.

Of course, with a surname like Murray, one can be sure that the beloved comedic actor has Irish roots. Murray grew up in Wilmette, Illinois, as part of a large Irish Catholic family. His father's father emigrated from County Cork, while his mother's family hails from County Galway. 

However, during a 2009 trip to Ireland Murray grumbled that "no one has ever claimed me in Ireland. No one!"
