THEY'VE been married for seven years and are parents to two sons, but Pierce Brosnan and his wife Keely Shaye Smith looked like newlyweds when they were photographed on a beach in Hawaii last week in a passionate embrace on the sand. Mrs. Brosnan certainly doesn't fit the mold
of the stereotypical Hollywood wife given her, shall we say, ample curves. Obviously that's the way Brosnan likes her.
"With such an openly public display of affection, the actor proved he couldn't care less about catty remarks made about Ms. Shaye Smith's voluptuous figure on some celebrity websites in recent weeks," said the Daily Mail.
Indeed the comments haven't been very nice. One German website called Keely Brosnan's "heavyweight" and "supersized" wife, but anyone over a size zero would qualify as big in some warped viewpoints.
Pierce sure has lots to be thrilled about. His summer film Mamma Mia! is a smash, with a box office haul in the U.S. alone of $125 million and counting. The soundtrack to the ABBA themed film which features a singing Pierce, Meryl Streep and others, sits nicely in the number two slot on the Billboard charts.
In Brosnan's homeland, Ireland, Mamma Mia! has proven so popular that cinemas across the country have started showing subtitled versions of the film so that viewers can sing along to the always catchy ABBA songs as the film is in progress.
