The "Peaky Blinders" star and her actor husband Adam Rothenberg managed to keep the entire pregnancy under wraps. Charlene only decided to reveal the news that she had given birth to a baby girl, Martha Josephine, back in March in recent days.

The 40-year-old actress made the show-stopping admission while speaking to RTÉ presenter Kay Sheehy on RTÉ Radio One.

Kay suggested that Charlene had been busy with ‘a new production, a beautiful production’ of her own.

"The Clean Sweep" star publicly confirmed she had recently become a mother, saying: "I think it’s an incredibly special and poignant and beautiful production if I do say so myself.

"I had a little baby, so I’ve been kind of out of the loop for a long time now. I’ve just been in nesting mode and enjoying my little girl. She’s just, she’s very special," she added.

The actress tied the knot with her husband Adam twice after first marrying in February 2021 in an intimate ceremony on the grounds of Castle Leslie.

While clearly loving being a new mum, juggling a high-profile acting career and life in the fast lane hasn’t always been easy.

Charlene previously confessed she suffered ‘a total breakdown’ at the height of her early career.

She told Doireann Garrihy’s "Laughs Of Your Life" podcast: "I would say I had two kinds of breakdowns. The last one was about ten years ago and it was just when everything… I just hadn’t stopped.

"I hadn’t caught up with my… I just had a total breakdown and I had to come home and just figure a lot of stuff out and start down the road of therapy and realize I had to look back over a lot of stuff and what got me there but it really was no laughing matter."

After talking to her parents she realised she had to slow down.

"It was the start of a beautiful road of recovery and therapy and seeing the wood from the trees and putting myself back together better than before," she said.
