Having counted up the 160,000 votes at the Hollywood Discovery Awards, “Inception” won out over names such as “Alice in Wonderland,” “Iron Man 2,” “The Social Network,” and “Toy Story 3.”
The Hollywood Movie Award was presented to Christopher Nolan.
The award was sponsored by Starz who collected the votes on Yahoo! Movies website.
The event on Sunday night was the 14th annual award ceremony and was held in the Beverly Hilton Hotel, in Beverly Hills.
Sean Penn, Sean Penn, Sylvester Stallone, Robert Duvall, Annette Bening, Sam Rockwell, Helena Bonham Carter, Justin Timberlake, and Zach Galifiankis were among the actors who received awards.
In attendance at the awards were over 1,100 guests including Morgan Freeman, Halle Berry, Jodie Foster, Hilary Swank, Don Rickles, Minnie Driver and Heather Graham.
Sean Penn won this year’s Humanitarian Award for “his tireless work and devotion to helping the people of Haiti recover from the ravaging effects of the earthquake that struck in January."
