Cian Ducrot was honored at the 67th Grammy Awards award at the star-studded event which took place on Sunday night in Los Angeles with Beyoncé being the big winner of the night.

Cian Ducrot, from Passage West in County Cork, was honored with a songwriting award for "Best R&B Song" at the 67th Grammy Awards for his work on SZA's track "Saturn".

Taking to Instagram stories the Cork star reacted with a screengrab of the Irish Times announcement and exclaimed "I can't believe it".

Ducrot accepted the award at the Crypto.com Arena in LA with his co-writers Rob Bisel, Jared Solomon and Scott Zhang.

Ducrot was classically trained in music and later attended the Royal Academy of Music, in London. He left to pursue a career as a singer-songwriter. During the COVID-19 lockdowns, he gained attention by posting covers and original songs on TikTok, where his emotional and relatable storytelling connected with audiences.

His 2022 single "All For You" became a major hit, charting in the UK and Ireland, and was widely shared on TikTok. Ducrot supported Ed Sheeran on tour, which significantly boosted his exposure. His songwriting collaborations, including with artists like Ella Henderson, also helped solidify his place in the industry.

In 2023, his debut album "Victory" reached No. 1 in the UK and Ireland, cementing his status as a rising star. He also picked up the RTÉ Choice Music Prize for Irish Song of the Year with his track "Heaven".

The big winner at the 67th Grammy Awards was Beyoncé who won Album of the Year for her album "Cowboy Carter". She had famously missed out on this award four times.

Kendrick Lamar won Record of the Year and Song of the Year for his track "Not Like Us", a "diss" track allegedly aimed at the rapper Drake. This track also picked up the Best Music Video, Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song.

Lamar will perform at the Super Bowl LIX on Sunday, Feb 9.

Collecting her first Grammy for Best New Artist Chappell Roan called for the music industry to provide a “liveable wage and healthcare for artists”.
