Colin Farrell appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers last week and talked about getting ready to run the Dublin marathon for charity next month.

"Anytime anyone says I'm going to run it, I have to check them and say it might not be a run, it might be a walk," joked the Irish actor during the show.

Farrell, who has previously run 10k's and half-marathons, said he enjoys "the buzz" of race day.

"It's magic," said the 48-year-old Dublin native, although he did worry that Dublin in October would be freezing.

"I don't know why they didn't pick the summer where it's just modestly cold," he said.

Farrell also revealed he will run the marathon with his close friend Emma Fogarty, who suffers from epidermolysis bulls (EB), a rare incurable skin condition that causes extremely painful blistering of the skin and internal body linings.

Fogarty, from Abbeyleix, Co Laois, is Ireland's longest-surviving person with the genetic condition, which is also known as "Butterfly Skin." Nearly 80 percent of Fogary's body is covered in open wounds, requiring fresh bandages every two days to prevent infection.

Farrell and Fogarty are entering the race to raise €400,000 for DEBRA, Ireland's largest funder of EB research.

The actor told Meyers he would push Fogarty, who he's known for 16 years, in her wheelchair for the last 4k of the race.

This isn't the first time the two friends have completed a race together to raise much-needed funds for the charity.

In June 2020, Farrell completed a 36km bike ride from his base in the US, while  Fogarty completed the same distance in her wheelchair along the roads in Abbeyleix, with the help of an assistant.

Farrell, who stars in the upcoming MAX series The Penguin, recently paid a moving tribute to Fogarty upon her "miracle" 40th birthday.

"Emma Fogarty is not only the strongest person I’ve ever met and a true warrior, I’m lucky enough to call her a friend," said Farrell in July.

"For years now, I’ve been fortunate enough to bear witness not only to her courage and her vulnerability but her humor, her stubbornness, and her great, great heart too."

He added: “The fact that I’m getting to run the Irish Life Dublin Marathon with my friend to celebrate her 40th birthday is something I’m so excited about.

"She’s already won the whole day!”
