Irish actor Colin Farrell has been tipped to fill the shoes of Johnny Depp in the upcoming Don Quixote epic movie.
Depp was originally cast to star in the film about the Spanish literary hero in 2000, when it was titled “The Man Who Killed Don Quixote,” but has since reportedly pulled out due to scheduling conflicts.
“Don Quixote” director Terry Gilliam worked with both Depp and Farrell on “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus,” in which the two actors, along with Jude Law, filled in for Heath Ledger’s starring role after his death.
Now Gilliam is eyeing the Irishman to replace Depp in “Don Quixote” when he finally begins filming the epic next year.
“Terry is a fan of Colin and it’s felt he’s one of the few people capable of filling Johnny’s shoes,” a source told Britain’s Daily Express.
“The Man Who Killed Don Quixote” originally began filming in October 2000, but shooting was abandoned after a series of mishaps on set.
