Irish actor Colin Farrell was put on the spot when host Kelly Clarkson dug up old pictures from his teenage years on her hit US talk show.

Elaborating on his love of line dancing, the Oscar-nominated star revealed how the entire country was swept up in country and western fever.

"I don’t know if I love it, but I did it," Colin laughed after being caught off guard with the snaps.

Native Texan Kelly was intrigued by his hidden talent, digging for more info.

"I earned a good crust for one year when I was 17 or 18…I think I was shaving once a month at that point," he added.

"Line dancing came into Ireland and was a huge craze…country and western line dancing came into Ireland for about two years. Whole country was wearing Stetsons.

"It was the weirdest thing! I was a part of a troupe of about eight people and we had a little van as well and we were sponsored by CMT; Country Music Television."

Elaborating further, he added; "We traveled around Ireland and we’d go into these hotel ballrooms, 400 to 500 people…yeah, I did it for a year."

Fans of the star were take aback by his former life, with many taking to the comments to reminisce on that time.

"I remember line dancing in nightclubs in Ireland back in the 90s, 'Achy Breaky Heart' and everything Garth Brooks! He played sell-out stadium tours here last year!" one wrote.

"I remember that I used to go to his line dancing “classes” after work back in the day," another added.

"I can confirm. The routine to 'Cotton-eyed Joe' is forever blazed into my brain," a third shared.
