Fans of the Batman franchise will have to face it: this summers go-around is likely to be director Christopher Nolan's last.  Speaking this weekend at the Produced By Conference he dampened any suggestions about him directing a fourth Batman movie. It's unlikely he indicated.

'I don't want to hold anything back for a fourth film,' Nolan told MTV, seemingly suggesting that The Dark Knight Rises will conclude everything he has left to say about Batman.

Currently Nolan's dance card is filled up with producers credits. Warner Brothers has Nolan signed on for a story and producer credit on director Zack Snyder's Man of Steel.

Nolan's also reportedly producing an upcoming, yet-to-be-titled supernatural thriller that Keith Gordon, Nolan's former assistant, will write and direct.

In 2010 a production based on a screenplay Nolan had written called The Keys to the Street began moving forward with Gemma Arterton attached to star. The Keys to the Street is based on a novel by Ruth Rendell and Nolan originally adapted the book for Fox Searchlight back in 1998.
 
Meanwhile Empire magazine is claiming that Nolan still has ambitions to direct a James Bond film, but much will depend on the timing. 'It would have to be the right situation and the right time in their cycle of things,' he said.

Nolan also indicated that his long rumored Howard Hughes biopic may be down, but not out, 'Luckily I managed to find another wealthy, quirky character who's orphaned at a young age.'
