Dublin band Empire Circus are set to play a series of gigs in the USA before the release of their self-titled album this September. The four piece group, who garner much coverage back home, are playing Philadelphia, New York City and Hartford, CT among other gigs during their stay.
Empire Circus are a Dublin based four piece outfit who have tapped into the panache of Two Door Cinema Club, the demeanour of Arcade Fire and the general cool suave of the Gorillaz...then morphed out at the other side with a resonant sound under the guise of Empire Circus.
Having lived and played music full time in the USA together for seven years as STAND, they dropped out briefly, ousted their drummer, auditioned a new one and in the spring and summer of 2012 the newly configured band spent time writing, demoing, and working feverishly on creating music. They wrote some songs, choose the fun ones, and went to a studio in Brooklyn and crafted an album of 12 tunes that made them want to sing at the top of their lungs while the audience moved to the beat.
This was all done under the influence of renowned indie Producer/Engineer/Mixer; Bryce Goggin (Pavement, Ramones, The Morning Glories, Antony and the Johnsons). The blazing guitars and voices from the past reincarnated and resurrected on a palette of dance beats.
The new single “There is a Light” was released in Dublin June 21 with the album to follow in September. Empire Circus’ sound is all about the thrill in rhythm and melody. Their debut album, including songs such as “A Day in the Life of a Superhero”, “I Know Better” and “All I Need” will leave you powerless against the urge to get up and move.
