Ed Sheeran delivered a mighty St. Patrick's Day surprise when he performed at The Dubliner Irish pub and restaurant in Boston, Massachusetts on Monday, March 17.

Sheeran, who is British but has considerable Irish roots, teased his surprise St. Patrick's Day performance in an Instagram Story on Monday that read “Meet me in the pub tonight” over a picture of him wearing a Celtics jersey.

According to NBC News, Sheeran's Instagram story was accompanied by his song “Galway Girl” and had Boston tagged as the location.

He added a note at the bottom saying, “(It’s okay to admit you like this song today bruh).”

In a following post, Sheeran showed off his "Galway Grill" tattoo, which Saoirse Ronan, who starred in the music video for his song "Galway Girl," gave him.

A few hours later, Sheeran, donning a white and green Celtics jersey, was at The Dubliner in Boston to play a few tunes including his hits "Shape of You" and "I Don't Care."

Accompanied by Irish trad group Beoga, Sheeran also performed two of his songs that have a distinct Irish flare - his take on "Galway Girl," and "Nancy Mulligan," an ode to his Irish granny.
