Comedy duo The 2 Johnnies issued a major update on the ongoing GAA Catfish scandal after the country went mad following the unexpected third installment of the series.
Popular talk show the Late Late returned this Friday for its annual GAA special following last week’s Tradfest special, which saw host Patrick Kielty joined by several big stars for a sing-along.
GAA CATFISH SAGA
After opening the show with a rendition of their ever-popular ‘When I Play for the County’, the Tipperary lads joined the opinionated GAA pundit Pat Spillane on the couch for a catch-up with Patrick Kielty.
The topic of the convoluted story failed to come up during the pair’s interview until the very end when Patrick Kielty suggested that they come back for a dedicated chat about the saga.
Responding, Johnny B issued a major update confirming that the GPA had just issued a warning to all their members to be on the lookout for fake social media profiles contacting them online.
He said: ‘Well look, we’ll see, and fair play, the GPA (Gaelic Players Association) contacted all their members today about it and, we would say to people, be safe online because, the social media companies, they need to do more, they’re making billions, and they don’t give a shite about people.’

PRAISE
However, it appeared that despite the major update, viewers were more entertained by pundit Spillane, whose humour and ‘love for the game’ left many viewers singing his praises.
Pat Spillane being his iconic self. He's absolutely right that #GAA is about family, community & Parish.#Latelate

Discussing a wide range of topics from the birth of his second grandchild, Paddy, to how he misses fellow pundit Joe Brolly and Kerry GAA, the 69-year-old proved a massive hit with viewers across the country.
‘Really enjoying Pat Spillane on the Late Late Show,’ said one. ‘So refreshing to listen to.’

‘LOVE HIS PASSION’
Meanwhile, another wrote: ‘I know people can have their say about Pat Spillane, but I have to say I love his passion and how he drifts off on conversation.’
A third wrote on X/Formerly Twitter: ‘This is Pat Spillane’s #LateLate Show. We’re all just along for the ride.’
Others were also quick to praise the GAA stalwart after he described how GAA was a community sport, that involves community effort.
He said: ‘You do it because you want to do it. For the love of the game.’

BABY JOY
The pundit also revealed the birth of his second grandchild, joking that it was ‘bad news’ as the child was born and living in Co Cork.
‘Myself and Rosarii have had our second grandchild,’ Pat said. ‘A young boy called Paddy Conway, born to our daughter Shona and her husband Liam.
‘Bad news, they live in Cork, he was born in Cork. So there’s two options open: we could kidnap him, which is a possibility, or now that the Healy-Raes are holding up the government I think we could get a Kerry passport.’
