Spectacular Irish scenery and amazing sporting skills join together to celebrate the ancient artistry of hurling.

What could be better?! Celebrating Gaelic games, the HBO hit “Game of Thrones” and Ireland’s spectacular scenery. The GAA's Freestyle Hurling promo got it spot-on with this clip.

The creative folks who shot the clip explained that it was shot “during the summer in Antrim, in Northern Ireland, at Shanes Castle, near Randalstown, Dark Hedges, Bregagh Road, approximately 2.5 miles from the village of Stranocum and Ballintoy Harbour." If this video doesn’t make you want to pick up a hurl and compete it’ll definitely make you want to take a vacation.

Hurling is believed to be the world’s oldest field game, featured in Irish folklore to illustrate the deeds of heroic mythical figures and it is chronicled as a distinct Irish pastime for at least 2,000 years. This clip is a beautiful celebration of the art and also uses the association of the mystic medieval styled world of “Game of Thrones” to draw on that ancient Celtic feel.

The clip’s aim is to promote the Gaelic Athletics Association and Gaelic Players Association’s Freestyle Hurling competition. The competition is searching for GAA supporters with serious hurling skills who want to be in with a chance to be part of the All-Ireland Hurling Final day experience on September 6 in Croke Park.

Hurling supporters are encouraged to record a video of no more than 30 seconds that best displays their freestyle hurling skills, performing unique trick shots and that displays their love of hurling

Freestyle Hurling is the art of expressing yourself with a hurl and sliotar (ball) while performing skills and tricks using any part of the body. The challenge is simple; pick up your hurl and sliotar, record your very own ‘Freestyle Hurling’ video and enter the competition.

Last year's winner was James Keyes from Colt GAA Club in County Laois, and now we are looking for someone to show us their 'Freestyle Hurling' skills and become the '2015 Freestyle Hurling Champion'.
