Hold off on those summer vacation plans to Ireland! Hot Press magazine reports that Guinness will celebrate its 250th birthday with a worldwide series of Arthur’s Day events on September 24.
There’s a strong musical element to the festivities, with Black Eyed Peas, D’Anj, Reverend and The Makers, Mongrel, Noah and The Whale, Mystery Jets, Johnny Flynn, Estelle, Kasabian, the Wombats, the Enemy, Soul II Soul and David Holmes and the Undertones participating in a series of gigs that will kick off at 5:59 p.m. – the exact moment that Arthur Guinness brewed his first pint.
Confirmed venues so far include New York, Lagos, Yaounde, Kuala Lumpur and Dublin, where Hop Store 13 is being transformed into a 2,000-capacity live music studio for the day.
There will be additional gigs in the Academy, Whelan’s, Tripod, Vicar Street and 28 of the capital’s most stout-minded pubs.
