HBO has opened a casting call for residents of the UK and Ireland to become the next stars of their upcoming "Harry Potter" TV series.
The American television production company is looking for the next Harry, Hermione, and Ron and is currently only able to consider children who are aged 9-11 in April 2025 and a resident of the UK or Ireland.
The application requires budding actors to submit two video auditions. The first video requires applicants to prepare a short poem or story of their choosing but no material from Harry Potter, and to also use their own accent.
The second video should be a recording telling a bit about themselves and describing a family member, friend, or pet that they are close to.
According to "Variety", HBO is targeting a 2026 release date. The show is expected to run for seven seasons, with each adapting one of the books in J.K. Rowling’s series.

The deadline for the submissions is on 31 October 2024. Full details of what is required as part of the application are available on the Cast It Talent website.
The notice also says that casting will be inclusive to all races, ethnicities, and gender identities.
“We are committed to inclusive, diverse casting,” it reads. “For every role, please submit qualified performers, without regard to ethnicity, sex, disability, race, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other basis protected by law unless otherwise specifically indicated.”
Francesca Gardiner, who produced “Succession,” “His Dark Materials” and “Killing Eve,” will showrun and executive produce the “Harry Potter” series. Fellow “Succession” alum Mark Mylod will also executive produce and direct multiple episodes.
The Irish talent shone through in the original Harry Potter franchise and included actors such as Michael Gambon, Fiona Shaw, father and son Domnhall and Brandan Gleeson, Kenneth Branagh, and Evanna Lynch.
