"Shameless" star Aaron McCusker plays the role of Jim Hutton, Freddie Mercury’s partner in the biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody”.
While Hutton is given little prominence in the film, the role in one of the most talked about movies of the year is a major coup for McCusker.
The 39-year-old thesp plays Hutton, a hairdresser from County Carlow who was a key figure in Mercury’s life. The couple were together for six years before Mercury’s AIDs-inflicted death in 1991.

McCusker is most famous for his role as Jamie Maguire in the UK version of “Shameless”.
He is married to writer Jennie Sutton, whom he first started dating in 2003.

McCusker also starred in two episodes of hit US show "Dexter" and will feature in the upcoming short film "Secret Child" based on memoirs of a boy born who spent his formative years at the Regina Coeli home in Dublin.

McCusker isn't the only Irish actor in "Bohemian Rhapsody" either - Aiden Gillen stars as music manager John Reid while Allen Leech plays Mercury's manager Paul Prenter.
Up-and-coming actor Dermot Murphy also has a small role as Bob Geldof.
