Aldershot’s Irish Guards sent their best wishes to Prince William and Kate Middleton on the birth of their baby boy on Monday.
 
The 145 Brigade raised the Union Jack for 12 hours at the Aldershot headquarters to mark the special occasion, reports GetHampshire.
 
The commanding officer of 1st Battalion Irish Guards Colonel Ed Doanas said, "On behalf of all ranks in the Irish Guards, I send our warmest congratulations and best wishes to the Colonel of the Regiment [Prince William] and Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge on the occasion of the birth of their son, with the heartfelt hope that he has a long and happy life."
 
They were just one section of armed forces to extend congratulations to the royal couple after the birth of their first child. William’s colleagues in the RAF also sent on their well-wishes and sailors aboard the HMS Lancaster and HMS Kent grouped together to spell the word ‘boy’ on the decks of their ships.
