Saoirse Ronan and Irish language hip-hop trio Kneecap are predicted to be among the Oscar nominees for 2025, according to industry publication Variety.

For her lead role in "The Outrun," Ronan is not only being tipped for a Best Actress nomination, but Variety has her winning the award.

It would be 30-year-old Ronan’s fifth acting Oscar nomination, and her first win.

Meanwhile, Variety is predicting that "Blitz," which Ronan also stars in, will land nominations in the Best Picture, Director, Original Screenplay, Production Design, Costume Design, and Film Editing categories.

Elsewhere, “Kneecap,” the semi-autobiographical film about the Belfast Irish language hip-hop trio of the same name, has been predicted to land a nomination in the International Feature. Variety is currently predicting that France’s entry, “Emilia Pérez," will ultimately win the award.

Should "Kneecap" get nominated, it will be Ireland's second nomination in the category in three years, following "The Quiet Girl" in 2023.

Other Irish stars are poised to get a taste of Oscar glory as well, according to Variety's early predictions.

"Gladiator II," starring Co Kildare native Paul Mescal, is being tipped for nominations in the Best Picture, Director, Actor (Denzel Washington), Production Design, Cinematography, Film Editing, Sound, Visual Effects, and Original Score categories.

Sadly, no predictions for an acting nomination for Mescal - at least not yet, anyway. He did land a surprise Oscar nomination in 2023 for his lead role in "Aftersun," but the prize went to Brendan Fraser for "The Whale."

“Joker: Folie à Deux," which features veteran Irish actor Brendan Gleeson, is also set for a big Oscars night, with nomination predictions in the Best Picture, Director, Actor (Joaquin Phoenix), Supporting Actress (Lady Gaga), Production Design, Film Editing, and Makeup and Hairstyling categories.

Like Mescal, Gleeson isn't currently predicted to land any acting nominations. Gleeson received his one and only Oscar nomination in 2023 in the Supporting Actor category for "The Banshees of Inisherin," the Irish film that was nominated for nine Oscars overall.

The 97th Oscars will be held on Sunday, March 2.
