“Ralph Breaks the Internet” star John C Reilly en route to getting his Irish passport

"Step Brothers" actor John C. Reilly has become an Irish citizen.

The Chicago-born man makes no secret of his love for Ireland - he is often seen touring the country with fellow actors, frequenting the Galway Film Fleadh festival, and he even once joined in a trad session in Doolin, Co. Clare.

Reilly is currently promoting "Ralph Breaks the Internet", the sequel to 2012's popular "Wreck-It Ralph," alongside co-star Sarah Silverman.

While in Ireland last year, the curly-haired actor told RTÉ that he was trying to get his Irish citizenship.

"I'm not kidding! I'm trying to get a passport in Ireland. I really do feel really at home whenever I'm in Ireland" he also told Joe.ie.

According to Joe.ie's latest post, Reilly is now a bona fide Irishman.

Reilly, who also starred in "Gangs of New York," revealed that he went to a reception in the US Embassy in Dublin recently to make the citizenship official. The US Embassy even tweeted an image of him, ultimately "welcoming him to the fold."

Reilly joked, "I'm going to be a citizen now, Ireland has just declared that they're going to make me into a citizen now. I was at the US Embassy last night and I made a pitch and they said 'alright, it's underway.' I made a big promise last night and said if the Irish government will grant me dual citizenship, I will play a concert in any pub that requests it for one year. So, your move Higgins."
