The Shorty Awards, which “honor the best in social media,” awarded people, companies, and brands for their work and influence over the year during their eleventh annual ceremony in NYC on May 5.
Katie Van Buren, who has previously held roles at HuffPost, BBC, and AOL, worked as the video producer on a team from MTV that won Best Snapchat Partnership award in the Influencer and Celebrity Brand Partnership grouping.
In the Snapchat show ‘Spencer Pratt Will Heal You,’ “Spencer explores today's most innovative, alternative and WTF spiritual practices in an attempt to heal both himself and his celebrity guests.”
Pratt rose to fame after appearing on MTV’s hit show ‘The Hills,’ a spinoff of ‘Laguna Beach,’ as Heidi Montag’s problematic beau. The two are now married with children and Pratt has evidently reformed his snake-like ways.

In 2013, Van Buren, who had just begun working at the music entertainment channel Fuse in New York City after finishing a gig at RTE, told the Irish Independent: "Positivity, determination, unwavering faith, and guts are the tools.”
“Also, a huge part of it is knowing who you are and being comfortable in your skin. Personality is what fuels this industry."
Van Buren doesn't just work behind the camera, though, and has extensive hosting experience both in the US and Ireland. The talented Irish woman even took the opportunity to try to teach American singer Jacob Sartorius a few Irish dance steps back in 2017:
Jacob was a natural :) Best of luck in the tour!
