Kimye’s Irish trip cost the couple $60,000, including a very expensive claddagh ring Kanye bought for his bride. However Irish tourism experts say the visit was “priceless” in terms of showcasing Ireland to a new generation of Americans.
The couple flew out of Ireland yesterday having cut their stay short by two days to go to Prague in the Czech Republic and then back to the US at the weekend.
Their stay in Ireland was a last minute decision, as bride Kim wanted to retrace her parents' honeymoon, which also took place in the Emerald Isle.
Buying her a claddagh ring was also something her stepfather, Olympic champion Bruce Jenner, also did for his new wife.
A tourism spokesman described the stay as “priceless.”
“There is an expectation that they will probably tweet and, by social media, disseminate their experiences here and you can’t buy that,” he told the Irish Times.
“There will be a lot of people in the US and across the world who won’t necessarily have Ireland on their radar and it’s put us on the map for a new demographic.”
A video made by Tourism Ireland “will be shared with fans eager to get a glimpse into the lives of Kim and Kanye and with millions of potential holidaymakers around the world.”
The couple stayed two nights in the exclusive Ballyfin Hotel in County Laois in the Irish midlands. Kanye had previously stayed there and they took the $3,000 a night suite.
Siobhan Byrne Learat, of Adams & Butler, told the Irish Independent they arranged their luxurious stay while here. “It was a great honor to arrange a beautiful visit to a few of Ireland’s most gorgeous locations and grand residences for them,” Byrne Learat said.
“I cannot comment on any of the details except to say that yes, Adams & Butler were asked by top US agents we work with to put together a wonderful trip for them."
Adams and Butler arranged for Michael Jackson’s stay in ireland and also for Harrison Ford.
