The actor is running a 42km marathon this month alongside Fogarty, who’s battling the severe epidermolysis bullosa (EB) skin condition, and is Ireland’s longest-surviving person with the condition.

Emma will be joining Colin in a wheelchair for the run, with Colin joking that he might be walking it instead of running it.

The pair appeared on the "Late Late Show" on Friday night to discuss the condition and the marathon ahead of Fogarty’s "miracle" 40th birthday.

Viewers rushed to social media to talk about the interview, with one person writing: "Colin Farrell is a national treasure .. he needs to be protected at all costs … and Emma … you are remarkable. A fantastic young woman."

Another person said: "You can’t help but love Colin Farrell. Comes across as such a genuinely lovely guy."

And a third person added: "Emma is an amazing woman. Even through her pain, her sense of humor comes through. Colin is one of the good guys."

It comes as Colin recently revealed what he’s dreading most about the upcoming marathon.

"Anytime anyone says I’m going to run it, I have to check them and say it might not be a run, it might be a walk," Colin joked while appearing on Late Night with Seth Myers, but said that he has run races such as half marathons before.

"It’s so much fun, the race day," Colin said.

"The buzz around it, I’ve done a few 10K’s too, a few half marathons [and] one full one in Brisbane… all the politics and the who you are, what you are, goes out the window and everyone’s just cheering you on."

However, Colin admitted that the weather is the one thing that he’s dreading for the marathon — saying "October in Dublin is going to be a disaster."

"It’ll be freezing. I’m gonna have to wear a scarf and gloves, and a big woolly jumper for the first few miles."
