Valentina Gomez, a rising star in the MAGA-controlled Republican party, made the comments as Conor McGregor told his followers this week he is looking forward to meeting the "20 serving members of the Seanad and the Dáil [Irish parliament] who will become responsible for the SAVING OF IRELAND!".
While the 36-year-old is an Irish citizen and just over the 35-year age threshold, presidential candidates must be nominated by at least 20 members of the Oireachtas or at least four local authorities.
Ms Gomez, who is known for her far-right rhetoric, was filmed hugging and smiling at McGregor as the pair were introduced during last week’s US presidential inauguration in Washington.
"Baseless"
In a statement to the MoS, she claimed McGregor is a victim of a smear campaign, facing "baseless" accusations and he will "make Ireland great again".
Addressing this reporter Ms Gomez said: "Here is my comment for your little hit piece on my friend @TheNotoriousMMA. 'By your retweets I see you protect all the pedophiles that hide under the rainbow flag.'"
The 25-year-old politician went on to claim "McGregor is the only hope for Ireland.
"He’s been the best fighter in the world, and I’m very confident he will be the best President Ireland has ever seen."
She added: "All those women making baseless accusations about Conor should be tried in criminal court and jailed for making false accusations if found guilty."

"Out of the blue"
Ms Gomez claimed allegations against "extremely successful" men like McGregor, President Donald Trump and Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth "appear out of the blue".
