Cillian Murphy reprises his role as Tommy Shelby in the new "Peaky Blinders" movie coming to Netflix.Netflix

"Peaky Blinders" fans rejoice! It's been announced that beloved stars will join Cillian Murphy in reprising their roles for the upcoming film.

The Cork native played Thomas 'Tommy' Shelby, leader of the pack, in the fan-favourite series between 2014 and 2022.

It seems Tommy may have unfinished business as Cillian recently confirmed, once and for all, that he'll return for a feature-length project- and fans can hardly wait.

On Friday, Netflix announced that Stephen Graham (Hayden Stagg), Sophie Rundle (Ada Shelby), Ned Dennehy (Charlie Strong), Packy Lee (Johnny Dogs), and Ian Peck (Curly) are returning to the franchise.

And in even better news: production has commenced. Fans were recently given a first look at Cillian's ruthless Tommy Shelby, writing: "By order of the Peaky Blinders... Tommy Shelby is back. Cillian Murphy and Steven Knight are reunited on set as production officially starts on the upcoming Netflix film."

One X user penned: "I’m literally screaming!," as another wrote: "Get ready for some sharp suits and even sharper dialogue. This is going to be a cinematic ride."

The show's creator Steven Knight previously let slip that Cillian would make his return to the franchise, adding that the upcoming movie be filmed at Birmingham's Digbeth Loc Studios in September and set during World War II.

The project has been picked up by Netflix and will be helmed by Tom Harper who directed episodes of "Peaky Blinders'" first season back in 2013. Great news for Irish fans as Cillian's fellow Irishman Barry Keoghan has also been confirmed for the project!

With an Oscar award-winning actor now in their midst, Mr. Knight previously promised the storyline would be "explosive." Thank God "Oppenheimer" star Cillian is used to that at this stage!

Announcing his reprisal of Tommy Shelby, the Cork native previously said: "It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn't finished with me... It is very gratifying to be recollaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of 'Peaky Blinders.' This is one for the fans."

And for the fans it most certainly is, Cillian, as floods of them then swarmed to social media to react to the exciting confirmation of a Peaky Blinders film.

At the time, one user penned: "Unreal! Best announcement all year, Netflix," as a second wrote: "So ready for the return of Tommy. Cillian is the best for coming back."

While some rejoiced, other fans are fearful that another "Peaky Blinders" project will taint the franchise, with one writing: "Expectations are high! Please don't ruin it."

We don't know about you but now that we've our first look, we can hardly wait for the upcoming film. Let's hope the release date isn't too far away.
