The One Direction lads have yet another highlight to add to their growing list for 2012 - headlining the closing ceremonies at London’s Olympics this summer.
The Daily Star is reporting that as one of Britain’s biggest recent imports, One Direction is an obvious choice for the ceremonies, which will be ‘British music’ themed. The five lads will perform their mega smash hit ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ backed by a thousand flash mob dancers.
As if their exposure has been far reaching enough, the event is expected to be viewed by over a billion people worldwide.
Other British musical stars Robbie Williams, Take That, The Who, George Michael, and Emeli Sandé, are also reportedly taking part. Songstress Adele is also rumored to be taking part.
An inside source told The Daily Star that “The main theme of the Olympic closing ceremony will be celebrating the best of British music, so it’s only right that One Direction are opening the show.
“It’s all top secret and the boys aren’t allowed to talk about it but they are thrilled.
“It isn’t everyday you get the instant exposure of performing in front of a billion people.”
“One Direction are unstoppable at the moment. They have achieved many career highlights at such an early age but this is right up there. To perform in their home country’s Olympic ceremony is like winning their very own gold medal.”
