Another Irish Obama appointee has made it to the top echelons of the White House.

Carol Browner, named as Obama's energy czar, has parents from Co. Limerick and was involved in the Clinton era trips to Ireland north and south.

Browner's selection has been hailed by green advocates everywhere.

"Carol Browner's appointment as a climate czar should signal to the world that the U.S. is taking a new direction on this issue," said Kathleen Rogers, environmental attorney and president of the Earth Day Network in a statement.

Browner is yet another of the former Clinton faction to occupy a central place in the Obama White House.

That is not surprising really, given the success of that administration and also, the lack of other Democratic presidents in the past 25 years.
