WELL, the headlines just keep coming courtesy of Peaches Geldof, the teenage daughter of Bob Geldof who's a gift from heaven for the British tabloids.
Word on Tuesday was that Peaches, 19, got hitched in a Las Vegas chapel to a musician she's known for a few weeks. The couple issued a statement saying they were "delighted to announce their very happy marriage." Okaaaaaaay.
The groom is Max Drummey, who according to the Daily Mail is a most recent entrant in Peaches' love life. Only last month she was supposedly in love with another rocker.
But the most important guy of all, Dublin's own Sir Bob, says he's in favor of the marriage. He told the Mail, "I have nothing further to add to what has been set out in the statement."
Peaches' hubby is based in Boston, and their wedding statement was full of plugs for their upcoming album release. "Max's band, Chester French, played at the ITV iTunes festival (in London in June), where Peaches was a co-presenter of the show.
"The acclaimed new Boston band were signed by Pharrell Williams to his label Star Track, a subsidiary of the giant Interscope Label. Their marriage has the full support of their family and friends."
Max is no fool, apparently. He's a Harvard grad in anthropology who's apparently known Peaches for a couple of years. They got married in the Little White Wedding Chapel, where another infamous star, Britney Spears, tied the knot for the first time a couple of years back. Let's hope the Drummeys wind up better than Brit and her man.
Peaches has grabbed headlines for all the wrong reasons this year, namely for a rumored drug overdose, an alleged purchase of drugs caught on video, and a hard-partying lifestyle in general. Maybe her new status as a newlywed will change all that.
