Superstar Ryan Reynolds has revealed that he used the work of DC Comics writer Geoff Johns as the inspiration for his new role as superhero Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern.
The actor will portray Jordan in the upcoming film adaptation of Green Lantern alongside his co-stars Blake Lively and Mark Strong.
Reynolds pointed to the 2008 story arc Secret Origin, which retold the origins of the Green Lantern Corps and the character of Jordan.
"His Secret Origins book is what I used as the bible for this," Renolds told the press this week. "It's an easy thing to reference because it's an origin story as well."
Green Lantern will be released in 3D on June 17, 2011.
