In a synopsis of "Say Nothing," FX says: "Spanning four decades, the series opens with the shocking disappearance of Jean McConville, a single mother of ten who was abducted from her home in 1972 and never seen alive again.
"Telling the story of various Irish Republican Army (IRA) members, 'Say Nothing' explores the extremes some people will go to in the name of their beliefs, the way a deeply divided society can suddenly tip over into armed conflict, the long shadow of radical violence for all affected, and the emotional and psychological costs of a code of silence."
"Say Nothing" is executive produced by Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson of Color Force, creator Joshua Zetumer, Patrick Radden Keefe, Edward McDonnell, Monica Levinson, and Northern Ireland native Michael Lennox. The series is produced by FX Productions.
Who stars in FX’s “Say Nothing”?
Lola Petticrew as Dolours Price
Dolours Price, portrayed by Lola Petticrew, is impetuous and charismatic, a political radical, propelled by the fierce certainty of youth. An early female member of the IRA, Dolours is also a walking contradiction - a thoughtful, sensitive art student who becomes a violent paramilitary.
Hazel Doupe as Marian Price
Marian Price, portrayed by Hazel Doupe, is three years younger than Dolours and the other half of the notorious Price Sisters. Possessing a quiet intensity and a dry sense of humor, Marian seems at first to be living in her big sister’s shadow. But that soon begins to change...
Anthony Boyle as Brendan Hughes
Brendan Hughes, portrayed by Anthony Boyle, is a fearsome IRA operator who lives life on the run. Beloved by his men and famous for his seemingly inexhaustible appetite for combat, Brendan soon becomes torn between his loyalty to his comrades and his belief in the Cause.
Josh Finan as Gerry Adams
Gerry Adams, portrayed by Josh Finan, is a shrewd commander who ascends the IRA’s ranks at an early age. A quiet and watchful presence, Adams is infamous for being a difficult man to pin down, a trait that will serve him well as he attempts to pivot from violence to politics. (Gerry Adams denies he was ever a member of the IRA.)
Maxine Peake as older Dolours Price
Decades later, Older Dolours Price, portrayed by Maxine Peake, is forced to contend with the terrible legacy of violence.
