The lads who make up Icewagon Flu plan on serving up plenty of Guinness with their next installment of the Irish Rock Night at Maxwell's in Hoboken, New Jersey on Thursday, October 30.

The lineup features the New York Brogues, a group that makes Rory Dolan's and C..J. Cullen's in Yonkers regular haunts. They will be promoting their folky EP, Bury Me on McClean, a spirited collection of original and traditional tunes that are the perfect companion for pint consumption.

The Shots, a wicked outfit from Clifton, New Jersey will be on the bill as well. They're one of the few bands that can combine bagpipes with Jamaican riddims.

Before you've recovered they've moved on to a funky cover of James Brown's "Sex Machine." If the Saturday Night Live horn section joined the Clancy Brothers, it might sound something like this.

They should fit right in with the fans of the eccentric hometown heroes called Icewagon Flu. This Hoboken jam band combines traditional Irish tunes with funk, soul, and power chords.

Their Great American Songbook was in this column's best of the year picks last year because of its joyous originality.
